Long ago, the nephalem Daedessa bid her son, Kion, form a group whose sole purpose would be the protection of Sanctuary from the Burning Hells. Scribes are apprenticed to the Immortals, but are paid poorly. The uniforms of the Immortals are designed for both battle and rest, though it is rare for Immortals to ever find the latter. If an Immortal falls, their name and those of their four lieutenants are engraved on the Wall of Honor. The leader is accompanied by four lieutenants with crowns of their own. Ī single Immortal who bears the Eternal Crown leads the Immortals. The Immortals keep their spoils inside a vault, which includes a plethora of tools that aid them in their eternal watch over Sanctuary. The Immortals believe that Sanctuary's future-not just one kingdom or one age-rests on their armored shoulders. Most Immortals serve as elite Knights of Westmarch, but they owe a deeper allegiance to Daedessa the nephalem who founded the order. However, their tremendous strength leaves them at risk of corruption or burning out spectacularly. An order of sacred knights, the Immortals are "the most elite heroes" of the mortal realm, charged with protecting Sanctuary from demonkind.
